Deacon Nicholas V. Belcher

Deacon Nicholas was born (1975) in West Virginia, and grew up in Altoona, PA. He received his B.S. in Education from the Military College of South Carolina (The Citadel) in 1997. Deacon Nick received his Master of Divinity (M. Div.) from Saint Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in 2005, graduating as the class valedictorian.

After graduation from the Citadel, Dn. Nick returned to his hometown and taught social studies and government at Altoona High School. Dn. Nick coached the Cross Country and Track teams at Altoona High. During his summers, he served as a counselor, Head Counselor, and Program Director at the Antiochian Village summer camp in Ligonier, PA. While working at the Village, he met his wife Sonia (Daly) who was recruiting seminarians from His Eminence Metropolitan Philip to attend Holy Cross School of Theology where she works as the Director of Admissions. Dn. Nick and Sonia were married on January 15, 2006 at Sonia's home parish, St. George of Boston. On April 22, 2007, Dn. Nick was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP here at St. George Church.

Dn. Nick works full time as the assistant director of the Office of Vocation and Ministry at Hellenic College in Brookline, MA. He is also the director of the CrossRoad program, which is a summer program for high school juniors and seniors to help them explore their vocation as Orthodox Christians. Dn. Nick serves the St. George parish for all services and feast day celebrations. He and his wife Sonia reside in Westwood, with their new born son, Andrew Nicholas.
