Memory Eternal - Sonia Daly Belcher

Sonia Belcher

Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen! We regretfully announce the falling asleep in the Lord of the handmaiden of God Sonia (Daly) Belcher, wife of Deacon Nicholas Belcher. The 40 day Memorial Service (Panikhida) is scheduled for Sunday, 30 March at 5:00 pm followed by a Mercy Meal in the Church Hall.

A website in memory of our dear friend Sonia has been set up at www.soniabelcher.com. Messages and condolocences to Dn. Nicholas and the Daly & Belcher family can be left at this website.

The wake was held here at St. George Church on Sunday February 24 from 4:00-8:00 pm with a line of friends and family wrapping from the church through the church hall into the parking lot. An all night-vigil began after the wake with the divine services and psalm readings continuing throughout the night until the funeral service began at 11:00 the next morning. At the request of His Eminence Metropolitan Philip, Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh presided at the funeral service, assisted by Bishop Savas of Troas, Bishop Ilia of Philimelion, Bishop Alexander of Ottawa, and well over 70 priests and deacons.  Hundreds of friends and family came from all over the world to pray for Sonia, and to be with her family for the wake and funeral.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Theophany School (www.theophanyschool.org), 754 Greendale Ave., PO Box 920-736, Needham , MA 02492-0736, an Orthodox Christian school in the Boston area which Sonia helped to establish. May Christ our true God who has dominion over the living and the dead establish the soul of His newly departed servant of God Sonia in his holy mansions and number her among the Just.  Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!
